There is financial support for organizations that plan community events and festivals.
The City of Mountlake Terrace is providing $ 25,000 in lodging tax revenue to qualified applicants for projects and events promoting tourism in 2022. These funds come from taxes collected by the Studio 6 Hotel on Mountlake Terrace.
The lodging tax revenue must be used for the marketing or running of special events designed to attract tourists from more than 50 miles away. You can also support the operation of tourism-related facilities that are legally owned or operated by non-profit organizations.
Programs or events should have the potential to increase the number of overnight stays in Studio 6 and / or achieve a positive economic effect. Lodging taxpayers’ money helped support community events such as the July 3rd Fireworks, Tour de Terrace, and Arts of the Terrace.
Applicants should review the Policies and Criteria on the Accommodation Tax Fund website under “Community / Stay Informed” or contact the Community Relations Director, Virginia Clough, at 425-744-6206 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The city’s tax advisory commission will examine the applications and make a recommendation to the city council based on the criteria adopted. The allocation of funds is provisionally planned for the city council meeting on January 3rd, 2022.
