With Covid continuing to squeeze the wings of frequent flyers on domestic routes due to lockdowns and closings of state borders, Virgin Australia is giving all Velocity members an additional eight months on their current status.
Velocity Platinum and Gold members who have booked an eligible Virgin Australia flight under the 2020 Velocity Status Rewards Program by March 28, 2021 will automatically receive another membership renewal through February 28, 2023.
Velocity Platinum, Gold and Silver members with a review date between September 30, 2021 and April 30, 2022 will automatically receive an additional eight-month status renewal from their review date until at least June 1, 2022.
“You don’t have to do anything, and we’ll email you as soon as the extension is requested,” says Virgin.
To help you pack some extra Status Credits to move up between levels – e.g. short haul Virgin Australia flights from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
You can pocket up to 100% additional status credit in Economy Class and up to 45% additional status credit in Business Class – fortunately, this applies to both existing and new bookings.
Virgin also offers status credits for points-based seat reservations on domestic flights for travel from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 – and here, too, both existing and new bookings qualify.
“Many of our loyal members have earned their coveted memberships in Velocity status over many years and we therefore guarantee that eligible members keep their status advantages in view with further flight options,” says the incumbent Velocity Frequent Flyer CEO David Marr.
“Loyalty works both ways, and it’s a way of reaffirming our commitment to Velocity members who have remained loyal to us. We’d like to thank them for their continued support and look forward to welcoming them on board soon.”
